Business Relations
The bilateral relations between Estonia and Ukraine are productive, and political relations and contacts between the people are close and interwoven.
Estonia is represented in Ukraine by the embassy in Kyiv (Ambassador Gert Antsu). As first secretary for Economic Affairs Helen Ennok also works in the Estonian Embassy. The embassy is always pleased to welcome Estonian business delegations who have come to Ukraine in order to start or grow their businesses.
Ukraine is represented in Estonia by the embassy in Tallinn, the Ambassador Mariana Betsa is an active member in the Ukrainian-Estonian Chamber of Commerce and advocates the active development of business relations between Ukraine and Estonia.
Bilateral economic relations between Ukraine and Estonia have developed and grown in the past years. However, there is still room for development in increasing exports by Estonian companies to Ukraine, as well as in increasing the share of Ukraine’s investments in Estonia. In bilateral trade in goods Ukraine was the 22th foreign trade partner of Estonia in 2018 with a turnover of €200 million, whilst export increased by 12% and import increased by 28% yoy.
Among export articles mainly chemical products were exported from Estonia to Ukraine. Most of the products in the commodity group are sealing mixtures and other mastics, paints and varnishes, medicines and cosmetics. The second largest export article was machinery and equipment (17%). The third largest export article (13%) was animal products (especially fish products).
Ukrainian citizens have registered in Estonia the biggest quantity of companies under e-Residency – Estonian state-supported program organized for the foreign online- entrepreneurs. With assistance of Estonian digital ID-card Ukrainian businessmen have already established more than 450 companies.
